When I interview leaders, I often hear
– I’m excited and driven!
– I model what I want to see!
– I know how to solve this!

They say “Think for yourself” but they mean “Just listen to me.”

What are employees thinking?
– I feel ignored, my views don’t matter.
– Wait for the boss to tell me what to do.
– I move slower because I’ve lost trust.

What can you do?
Hire candidates who help the team connect their purpose, motivations, and experience with the mission.
